The Team You Need in Reese, Michigan

Reese, Michigan is a village that is primarily located within Tuscola County’s Denmark Township, with just one small part of the village lying within the borders of Saginaw County’s Blumfield Township area. There are roughly 1,414 residents living in the village – almost 3% more than were recorded in the 2000 census.

The first settlement of the area occurred in 1865. By 1873, the railroad had arrived, and the village was named Reese just two years later. As so often happened back then, the arrival of rail service brought an increase of people. Within just a few short years, the village had more than 300 residents and was regarded as the railroad hub and center of trade for much of the surrounding farmland. Even today, the area remains primarily agricultural, with an emphasis on corn, sugar beets, and similar crops.

As of 2013, the area median household income was estimated to be $41,708. That’s somewhat below the $48,273 median income enjoyed on a statewide basis, but represents a slight increase above 2000’s estimate. Industries in the area include manufacturing, retail, services, construction, and transportation. The most prevalent occupations include sales and management, production jobs, administrative support, repair and installation services, maintenance and cleaning, and financial operations. Residents in the area do have opportunities to both protect and build their wealth, and can also plan for a sound financial future. Biddinger & Estelle, PC can assist in those efforts.

Seniors in Reese, Michigan

The median age of Reese residents in 2014 was estimated to be 41.6 years. That’s two full years higher than the statewide median of 39.6. Official estimates indicate that about 22.5% of the population in Reese, Michigan is younger than 18, and that another 14% are at least 65 years of age. Nearly 13% of all households in the area are made up of seniors living on their own. 8.6% of the area’s senior citizens are reported to be living on poverty-level income.

Many seniors in the area do make every effort to remain in their own homes in their twilight years. For many of those elderly residents, however, changing health needs eventually cause them to seek assistance for their care as they gradually find that even daily tasks become too much for them to manage on their own. This help often comes from family and friends at first, and then later from skilled professionals. Yellowpages.com provides a list of nursing homes and assisted-living opportunities at its site.

Families with elderly loved ones in need of long-term care should carefully evaluate these care options before choosing any facility for their senior loved one. Decisions regarding the type of facility needed and how that care gets financed can be difficult to make, but they remain among the most serious decisions that any family confronts. At Biddinger & Estelle, PC, our experts can help you to assess the different options available to you and offer important guidance about financial assistance opportunities from programs like Medicaid and benefits such as those offered by the VA.

Demographics for Housing and Labor in Reese
